Dillian Whyte claps back at Deontay Wilder
WBC Interim Heavyweight champion Dillian “The Body Snatcher” Whyte’s (28-2, 19ko) feud with former WBC champion Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder (42-1-1, 41ko) has been going on far too long.
In 2018, British promoter Eddie Hearn first floated around the idea of offering then WBC champion Wilder something in the neighborhood of $7 or $8 million to fight The Body Snatcher. Whyte at this time was the WBC Silver champion, although the organization should have made him the mandatory challenger. Instead, that honor went to former title challenger Dominic Breazeale in what created a debacle by the WBC.
Wilder, looking to fight the unified champion, Anthony Joshua, showed very little interest in fighting Whyte. He stated that, “He does nothing for my career, and it would just be a fight to see how fast I can knock him out.”
Whyte, hearing this, was not about to let this go unanswered. He revealed how Wilder turned down the fight.
“I said I would fight him, but we had to agree. There is no waiting six months, waiting a year, you fight me next.”
“But he said, ‘I ain’t signing that.’”
THE HATRED HAS NOT CHANGED OVER TIME
Well, things only got heated from there. Over the next several years, both men continued to engage in a war of words. Whyte made references to his arch-nemesis as a “Hill Billy,” and Wilder took it to a whole new level, saying if they ever meet in the ring, he wants to put a toe-tag on his rival enemy.
“I’m definitely going to try to commit a 187!”
It is 2021 and their hatred for each other has only gotten worse. Wilder went to a place that caught the attention of the entire boxing community, indicating that Whyte’s obsession with him is because he is Gay!
If you have been following the history between these two fighters, then what happened next is no surprise. Whyte immediately went to social media, issuing a warning along with an interesting name in place of Wilder’s Bomb Squad persona.
