Oscar De La Hoya Confident Golden Boy Can Help Make Spence vs Crawford
Oscar De La Hoya is confident that Golden Boy Promotions can get WBO welterweight champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (39-0, 30KO) the fight with unified champion Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. (28-0, 22KO).
On January 29, De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins teased the fans with big news to come as they posted a picture of themselves alongside Crawford. Fans did learn a possible fight with top contender Alexis Rocha is one reason Golden Boy is looking to acquire the WBO champion’s services.
During the scheduled card featuring Rocha taking on George Ashie, De La Hoya revealed the main goal for wanting to bring Crawford on board.
“Future plans for Terence Crawford. He wants to fight the big fight against Errol Spence, and I told him we can make that fight happen.”
The Golden Boy Promotions CEO explained that working relations with Premier Boxing Champions have improved. This is largely due to the fact both entities came together in delivering WBA Regular lightweight champion Gervonta Davis versus Ryan Garcia.
LOOKING TO DELIVER CRAWFORD VS SPENCE
Wait! There’s more. De La Hoya continued by revealing the rest of the plan.
“I told Crawford, let us present to you a schedule of fights leading up to Spence. I have all the confidence in the world that Crawford versus Spence will happen.”
This is good news for boxing fans as there is still residue from the waste left behind when their proposed undisputed showdown fell apart in 2022.
