Oscar De La Hoya Interested In Ryan Garcia vs Teofimo Lopez

When former unified lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez revealed he had invited Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoys to his fight, the boxing community did not believe he would show up. The Golden Boys brass made an appearance scouting for a potential showdown between Ryan Garcia and Lopez.

Lopez successfully bounced back with an impressive performance against Pedro Campa. Campaigning at junior welterweight, Lopez is looking to make some noise and score a shot at a championship bout right away. Garcia has also entered the division coming up from lightweight in a fight against former champion Javier Fortuna on July 16.

Garcia has been calling for a fight against three-divisional champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis. He also expressed that if he can’t get a fight with Davis, a bout against Lopez is a second option.

Lopez also revealed in an interview with Fight Hype that he invited Garcia to his fight. De La Hoya showed up to the surprise of everyone, and in an interview, during intermission, he doubled down on a possible match-up against Garcia.

“I’m good friends with Teofimo, he actually DM me. Obviously, he invited me to the fight, and I was more than happy to. Coincidentally, Ryan Garcia, who’s in his weight class, is looking for a dance partner. Obviously, there are talks about Tank and Ryan fighting Tank. But, I want to explore all options.”

When asked which fight between Lopez and Garcia is more likely to be made, De La Hoya responded both.

“I think both fights can be made. Al Haymon is Tanks advisor obviously, and Bob Arum, I’ve worked with him forever. But I think both fights.”
