Oshea Jones Debuts in Impressive Style
In her professional debut Toledo, Ohio native and 2020 Olympic welterweight bronze medalist Oshea Jones (1-0, 0 KO) won in dominant fashion. In that contest, Jones fought Sonya Dreiling (4-3, 2 KO’s) who dabbles in both boxing and bare knuckle fighting. When sealed in the ring together, however, it was clear the Olympian had the monopoly on skill.
Jones was able to easily control the action early in the fight with her feet and jab. As the Ohio southpaw grew more comfortable she displayed a diverse array of punches. In particular, her thumping straight left and lead right hook were acutely accurate and pummeled Dreiling throughout the fight. If anything, Jones could stand to continue buttoning up her defense as she was caught with a number of Dreiling’s right hooks.
All in all this was a fantastic way to launch her professional career. Managed by Split-T Boxing, along with her brother Otha Jones III, the future for the former Olympian looks exceedingly bright. So let’s see how her career shapes up over the next several matches.
