Diego Pacheco Looking to Follow Sadjo Win with Munguia Fight
In his latest at bat, super middleweight contender Diego Pacheco (25-0, 18 KO’s) secured a soggy unanimous decision win over Kevin Sadjo. Over twelve rounds, the Californian largely toiled with, wrestled and was dropped by Sadjo. In spite of the knockdown, Pacheco walked away with a comfortable points win and challenged Top Rank bruiser Jaime Munguia (45-2, 35).
With the Cameroonian fighter in his rearview mirror, Pacheco, 24, already is looking forward to his next desired challenge. If given his way, the undefeated boxer would take on Munguia next.
“The fight that interests me the most right now is Jaime Munguia. He is a great fighter, a great Mexican warrior. And I feel like that’s the fight that I am missing to really get to that stardom!” ~ Pacheco
Just as Pacheco is focused on Munguia, Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn apparently has similar ideas. He expounded upon some of them during the post-fight interview.
“Sometimes, those guys who might not have taken the fight before might decide they want to take the fight. Hamzah Sheeraz, particularly Jaime Munguia, that’s a fight that would fill up a stadium in Los Angeles. That’s the fight we really want to make!” ~ Eddie Hearn
Now that Munguia has avenged his loss to Bruno Surace, let’s see if he’s willing to oblige Pacheco in a duel.
