Manny Pacquiao targeting first or second quarter 2020 return!
As 2019 draws closer to an end, newly-crowned WBA welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao has began to set his 2020 plans in motion.
The first move in doing so is solidifying his next fight date. According to the man himself, the months currently under consideration are March and April. One date mentioned by members of team Pacquiao was April 11. He told the Manila Bulletin News the following:
“I can fight in March, April because the Senate will be on break during that time.”
The break Pacquiao is eluding to is the Senate recess from March 14 to May 3. That would give him ample time to prepare for his 72nd career bout.
Choose Carefully!
With Pacquiao pulling double duty as an elite but aging fighter and senator in his country of the Philippines, it’s important that his next few moves as a boxer be his best.
After upsetting Keith Thurman in July, there have been two constant names thrown out as potential opponents; Mikey Garcia and Danny Garcia. Both guys present different challenges for varying reasons.
Even now at 40, with his performance against Thurman, the Filipino bruiser would head into those match-ups as the favorite.
