No VADA testing for Keith Thurman vs Manny Pacquiao!
3kingsboxing.com has learned that both Manny Pacquiao and Keith Thurman will only be subjected to the standard drug testing that’ll be provided by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC).
This is rather surprising news for a fight of this magnitude. This news will surely cause people to ask questions as to why extra measures to ensure both fighters are clean have been waived.
First we must understand that VADA testing is PURELY optional and only mandatory when participating in a WBC sanctioned event. These two will be fighting for Thurman’s WBA super title. Conversely, given the frequency and nature at which fighters have been failing drug tests recently, this is definitely something to explore.
Neither Thurman nor Pacquiao have ever failed a drug test for PEDS. Therefore, some may give them the benefit of the doubt. However, questions remain as to why these men decided not to participate in a more strenuous form of drug testing.
Pacquiao has received much criticism in the past for his reluctance to participate in VADA. Many fans believe his meteoric rise from 2008-2011 was suspicious to say the least.
