Pacquiao’s Likely Opponent For April Return

Pacquiao To Return In April

Last month3KingsBoxing.comreportedthat superstar Manny Pacquiao was likely to return in April. Earlier today we learnedthat he will indeed be back the spring of 2018 at a location yet to be determined but options include Mexico. Accordingto a source withinTop Rank, his opponent could be Mike Alvarado.

Alvarado, 38-4 26KO, is a former WBO super lightweight champion. He’s been on a four fight win streak since losing to Brandon Rios in January of 2015. His last fight was in August of this year in which he stopped journeyman Sidney Siqueria.

It’s not exactly the type of fight that’ll send fight fans in a frenzy by no means but it is suppose to be used as a tune-up for Pacquiao. If the Filipino star wins his next fight he is expected to face the winner between Terence Crawford and the winner of tomorrow’s Jeff Horn/Gary Corcoran WBO welterweight title fight.

Pacquiao has been out since losing a controversial decision to Horn back in July at SunCorp Stadium in Australia. Initially a rematch between the two was scheduled for November but Pacquiao had to pull out of the fight citing conflict with his senatorial duties in his home country.
