Plant/Fielding Agree To Deal

IBF final eliminator set for July 28th

A deal has been agreed to for a final elimination fight between super middleweights Caleb Plant (17-0, 10 KOs), 25, and Rocky Fielding (26-1, 14 KOs), 30, of England.

The fight was scheduled to go to a purse bid on Tuesday but both teams notified the IBF on Monday that a deal was reached and the IBF notified all of its registered promoters that the purse bid has been canceled. The teams told the IBF the fight would take place on July 28 in Los Angeles.

Plant last fought back in February when he defeated Rogelio Medina by a twelve round unanimous decision.

Fielding, British super middleweight champion, is currently on a five fight win streak since suffering his lone defeat against Callum Smith back in November 2015.

The lightweight unification bout between Mikey Garcia and Robert Easter Jr. is being finalized as a Showtime main event on that date at the Staples Center.

The winner between Plant and Fielding would become the mandatory challenger for champion James DeGale (24-2-1, 14 KOs), who first has an obligation to fight interim titlist Jose Uzcategui (27-2, 23 KOs).
