Caleb Plant promises to KO Mike Lee!

Ahead of their July 20 showdown, IBF super middleweight world champion Caleb “Sweet Hands” Plant (18-0, 12 KO’s) has vowed to knock out his opponent Mike Lee (21-0, 11 KO’s). When discussing Plant as a fighter, generally his slick defensive prowess is what springs to mind to first. Nevertheless, in a recent interview, Sweet Hands assured that he will definitely win his next bout by knockout.

The July 20 showdown with Lee is serving as Calen Plant’s first title defense of his IBF strap.

“I’m going to dominate him, I’m going to knock him out, he has no options in the fight. The only two options he’s got is on his face or his back, that’s it. So, Mike Lee is getting knocked out.”

When discussing the upcoming bout with Mike Lee, Plant went into more detail about his punching power. The laid back Tennessee native expressed no surprise that most do not perceive him as a thunderous striker. At the same time, Plant also is aware that most people are unaware of the history of his hand’s health.

Sweet Hands explained how earlier in his career he was a more offensive-minded, violent puncher. However, since suffering repeated hand injuries, Plant became the defensive wizard he is more out of necessity than outright preference. Despite those hampering injuries in the past, Plant believes that his destructive mitts are growing stronger by the fight and this will be evident as he continues to fight

Even though he Sweet Hands has not scored a stoppage victory since 2016, he assures he will end that knockout drought on July 20.

“In each fight, as I grow, I was knocking a lot of people out. Then I started developing a lot of hand injuries and it kind of put me back in a shell of touching people, sticking and moving.

Then in the Medina fight, that was the first fight I didn’t injure my hands. In the Jose fight I’m punching even harder again. So I’m getting back on track to how I used to, you know, really be cracking people. So tune in July 20 and you’ll see what I’m talking about.”
