Shawn Porter is the Candyman. Don’t say his name five times.
Former two-time welterweight champion “Showtime” Shawn Porter has noticed a pattern among some of his stablemates under the Premier Boxing Champions banner. When it comes to mentioning names, nobody seems to be looking in his direction. This is odd, especially given the Fight of the Year candidate he had with unified champion Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr.
Former two-divisional champion Danny “Swift” Garcia defeated Ivan Redkach and immediately called out the names of WBA champion Manny Pacquiao, Texas unified champion Spence and former champion Keith Thurman.
However, Porter did not receive a mention. Now, we can understand Pacquiao and Spence, but Thurman defeated the Philadelphia boxer. So if calling him out is to get revenge, then undoubtedly the former two-time champion’s name should be in the conversation considering Swift tasted defeat at the hands of Porter also back in September 2018.
Furthermore, father Kenny Porter claims the former Philadelphia champion hopscotched around a rematch with his son. Since losing the WBC title to the Texas champion, it has been hard for Shawn Porter to get in the mix with any of these top guys in one of the best divisions in boxing.
Porter, feeling some kind of way, took to twitter and let it be known what his new nickname should be. Just don’t say it five times.
