Regis Prograis believes Danny Garcia didn’t look too hot against Errol Spence
According to New Orleans native and former WBA junior welterweight champion Regis “Rougarou” Prograis (25-1, 21ko), once he goes to welterweight, there are two former champions on his radar. Now, the former world champion wants to be a two-time junior welterweight world champion before moving up to face the top champions at welterweight. Furthermore, his signing with powerhouse advisor Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions over Top Rankwas a calculated career decision considering the New Orleans native will eventually move-up to compete at welterweight.
STILL WANTS TO FIGHT HIS ARCH-RIVAL
During an interview with 3kingsboxing affiliate Pep Talk UK, Rougarou was candid about who he wants to fight when he moves up to welterweight and why. One of those names is former WBO junior welterweight champion Maurice “Mighty Mo” Hooker (27-1-3, 18ko).
“You know what, I think me and Hooker (Maurice) got some beef, you know what I am saying. He didn’t want to fight me, and that may be my first victim when I go to 147.”
Prograis is referring to when they were supposed to fight back in the summer of 2020. Initially, they were going to fight at junior welterweight. Yet, Team Hooker wanted to make it a catchweight before later requesting the fight be at the full welterweight limit.
BELIEVES THAT SWIFT IS DONE AND IS EASY WORK!
Next, he mentioned two-division champion Danny “Swift” Garcia (36-3, 21ko). Not only does the former champion feel he can beat Swift, but he believes it will be fairly easy.
“Another fighter I think would be one of my first big fights at 147, I was at the fight live Errol Spence vs Danny Garcia, and I think Danny…. I am not going to lie, I think Danny is easy cake for me. Danny looked shot!… For me, Danny didn’t look too hot… So after I whoop on Hooker, then it will probably be Danny.”
That is a strong statement from Rougarou. Moreover, boxing fans should stay glued to all social media platforms, because once father/trainer Angel Garcia gets word about this, the response will be fire.
