Regis Prograis eyes a potential bout with Mikey Garcia!
On the heels on his first career defeat against Josh Taylor (16-0, 12KOs) former WBA junior welterweight champion Regis Prograis (24-1, 20KOs) is gearing up for a 2020 ring return.
While there’s no mention of a possible foe in his first fight of the new year, Prograis himself has put new DAZN signee Mikey Garcia (39-1, 30KOs) on notice!
In an interview with fighthype.com Prograis talks about a potential fight with Garcia.
“That’s the fight for me even Robert said it. I said I get the winner of Postol vs Ramirez […] and he said how about Mikey? What about Mikey at 140 on DAZN?”
On if the Garcia fight goes the distance.
“Yeah, possibly. Mikey’s tough and Spence didn’t knock him out so yeah I think so. You know it all depends.”
Prograis has always shown the fighters attitude inside and outside of the ring, so there’s no surprise that he has major interest in a clash with the former four-division champion.
Garcia, who’ll return in February in his DAZN debut, will face a “TBD” opponent before looking forward to an even bigger fight.
A fight between Prograis and Garcia would be an excellent match-up between two boxer punchers coming off their first career defeats.
