Shawn Porter states he wants to enter the ring and issue a challenge to the winner of Errol Spence vs Mikey Garcia

WBC Welterweight champion Shawn Porter will be in action March 9, however, during the media workout, he answered some questions about his future plans. The champ was asked who he has been keeping his eye’s on lately. He replied:

“Errol Spence! I’m not saying I expect him to win I’m just saying he’s who I’ve had my eye on now for the last year or so.

“I think right now in my mind whether he takes the belt or not, we will more than likely look to push to fight for him as opposed to Mikey.”

The 31 year-old, Ohio native would reveal he may possibly get into the ring after the fight!

“I’m going to be down there is Dallas. I expect everybody in boxing to be down there in Dallas. I don’t expect if I try to get in the ring there is going to be anybody trying to hold me back saying ‘hold on let me go first.’

“If I want to get in the ring it’s going to be my decision to do that and I expect if I do decide to do that, whoever that winner is or who I’m calling out they will be more than willing to accept that challenge.”

When asked about his thoughts on WBA champion Keith Thurman’s lst fight against Josesito Lopez

“He [Thurman] had me worried in the 6th round! He got caught and he had me worried, thinking that he was going to give everything up that he had earned to that point even though it had been two years. [I’m] saying all that to say he needs some more work!”

Porter is one of the most popular fighters in boxing with his fan friendly style and likable character. Fans would love to see him mix it up with one of the other champions in the division soon.

Before we can get to excited, however, the WBC champion must first take care of business against mandatory challenger Yordenis Ugas.

This fight will be showcased live March 9 as part of PBC on FOX at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
