Regis Prograis Warns He’d Send Teofimo Lopez Back to the Hospital!

Things are heating up between former unified lightweight champion “The Takeover” Teofimo Lopez (17-1, 13KO) and two-time junior welterweight champion Regis “Rougarou” Prograis (28-1, 24KO).

Prograis predicted a fight with Lopez was on his radar when the former unified champion announced moving up into the division. So it should not shock anyone that he kept the same energy about hurting Lopez during a Q&A with fans on social media.

“Teo talking shit, and I’m cool. I’m a little cool with Teo, bro. Me and Teo been in the same room together and all that stuff. But, I really feel like I would hurt him and hurt him bad to where he’ll really be messed up . . . going to the hospital type of shit.”

LOPEZ HITS BACK AT PROGRAIS

Of course, The Takeover was unamused by those comments, especially the hospital part, considering he almost lost his life in the ring. While speaking with the press at the final presser for the upcoming fight with Sandor Martin, Lopez contributed Prograis’ comments to a lack of speaking skills.

“I don’t think these guys know how to talk. I don’t think they know how to express themselves very well, and that’s why I am the first boxer to be signed to my life . . . that’s basically saying you want to kill me, you know in that term. Because I literally died last year around this time . . . I understand his term is basically he’s just going to beat the shit out of me, it’s true, but you can just say that.”

Rougarou is coming off a savage eleventh-round stoppage over three-time title challenger Jose Zepeda for the vacant WBC title. Lopez versus Martin is a WBC title eliminator, and he may face the winner between WBO champion Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall rematch.

Going into 2023, the boxing community is on alert as these two fighters are on a collision course to settle things in the ring.
