Kubrat Pulev vs Hughie Fury Recap

In a fight to determine the next mandatory for Anthony Joshua, the IBF title eliminator between Kubrat Pulev vs Hughie Fury took place.

The early rounds saw both men trying to establish their game plan as Pulev was able to use his experience and skill early.

Fury fought most of the fight with his hands down and backing up into the corner trying to get his opponent to over-commit and counter while suffering a cut above his left eye.

In the middle rounds, Pulev started to find his range; landing the left hook followed by the straight right to the body. It was clear he was pulling away with the fight at this point.

However, in the eighth round, Fury hurt his opponent with a beautiful straight right hand. Unable to finish the hurt fighter still, it seemed the tide was about to turn.

Round nine saw Pulev regain control of the match, realizing the momentum was about to shift. He threw punches from different angles and kept his opponent on the back foot; even hurting Fury while finding a home for compact shots on the inside.

In the championship rounds, Pulev seemed to be relatively fresh compared to his fading opponent. The energy level displayed was amazing to see as he was applying relentless pressure coming forward with hooks and rights.

In the end, all three judges saw it for the Bulgarian fighter by unanimous decision. This now makes him the mandatory challenger for the IBF heavyweight title.
