Jose Ramirez Improves to 23-0!
Both men came out guns blazing in round one! Ramirez appeared to get the better of Orozco landing some thudding left hooks on the challenger.
Round two again saw both men throw and land big shots. Ramirez’s jab snapped back the head of Orozco numerous times. Orozco had success with his right hand. In round three, Ramirez seemed to take back momentum as he landed some nice combinations.
Round four was all Ramirez, as he dropped Orozco with a big right hand and battered him for the remainder of the round. Rounds six and seven saw Orozco have his best rounds of the fight as he was able to land some nice shots.
A left hook to the body in round eight sent Orozco down for the second time in the fight.
In round eleven, Ramirez continued to apply pressure; landing several brutal left hooks to the body and head. Orozco was able to land several overhand rights, but was unable to land with the same authority.
In the 12th and final round, Ramirez showed his mettle. He did excellent work behind his jab which allowed him to setup 1-2s to the body and head. Orozco also showed great resolve to hold up to the onslaught. Both fighters, while extremely fatigued, put on an excellent show.
The judges got the decision right with a unanimous decision. All three scorecards read 119-107 for Ramirez.
