Ivan Redkach Focused on Bigger Fights!
In September, days after Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr (26-0, 21 KO’s) defeated Shawn Porter to unify the WBC and IBF welterweight titles, it was announced he would face Danny “Swift” Garcia (35-2, 21 KO’s) January 25, 2020.
Honestly speaking, this was not the fight that most in the boxing world wanted. With that being said, it was still a competitive match-up between two top welters.
However, the fight was not meant to be as a car accident suffered by Spence vanquished the locked-down date between the two.
GARCIA V REDKACH IS BORN
Thankfully, the Truth emerged largely unscathed and healthy enough to resume his boxing career. Although he escaped without life or career threatening injuries, he was required to rest and heal from the trauma he did sustain.
This was enough to derail the Spence v Garcia bout. Deprived of an opponent on a fight date he wanted to mantain, and unwilling to remain idle, Garcia moved on and signed on to battle with Ivan “El Terrible” Redkach (23-4-1, 18 KO’s).
EYES ON THE PRIZE
While a large contingent of the boxing fans view Redkach as a soft touch, the Ukrainian born welterweight is looking through Swift.
As it is with most fighters, El Terrible has supreme faith in his ability to overcome the challenge ahead. As he told Fight Hub TV, he understands that victory over Garcia would lead directly to much bigger opportunities and paydays.
“I’m very hungry! Danny is a great champion, [but] I’m not seeing Danny fight. I’m seeing Manny Pacquiao fight, Errol Spence. Danny is a great step for next opportunity!
“Danny, be ready for January 25!”
Regardless of his immense self-belief, defeating Garcia will be no easy task. Swift is his toughest opponent to date with IBF junior lightweight champion Tevin Farmer a distant second.
Without question, Garcia is the Ukrainian’s most accomplished professional adversary. It will be fun to see how this fight plays out in between the ropes.
