Devin Haney Says Kambosos is Pursuing a Bidding War

Australian boxer and unified lightweight champion “Ferocious” George Kambosos (20-0, 10 KO’s) is currently cruising along on cloud nine. Heading into his last about, against Teofimo Lopez, Kambosos was tabbed as the overwhelming underdog. Paying the snubs and lack of respect zero heed, Ferocious out-boxed and out-gritted Lopez en route to a split decision victory. With the spoils of war, Kambosos stripped Lopez’s waist cleaner than the bottom of a Christmas tree come December 26.

Adorned with the three belts, WBA super, WBO and IBF, Kambosos is easily the most sought after lightweight in the division. Most would have imagined that Kambosos would jump at the chance to face Devin “The Dream” Haney (27-0, 15 KO’s) in a fight for undisputed. Instead, Ferocious has seemingly started a fan poll to determine who he dances with next. Unsurprisingly, Haney is not buying it.

CAN’T TRUST IT!

Prior to his releasing the poll, Kambosos had shown interest in a match with the Dream. Yet, to his credit, Kambosos had also been known to go on a recent scouting tour scoping out his available competition. Regardless of his attempts to appear neutral, in his opinion, Haney thinks the whole public poll is simply a ploy to instigate a bidding war.

TOP TWO CANDIDATES

It will be interesting to see what becomes of this current fan poll and the results. Minus a poll, the two leading candidates, as going by public chatter, are Haney and Vasiliy Lomachenko. Therefore it should be no surprise that Loma and Haney have received the most votes.

This is even true in regards to the poll that 3kingsboxing presented on the same topic. Speaking of which, if you have not voted, please cast your ballot at the first opportunity to let your voice be heard.

In the end though, Haney, just like the rest of us, will have to wait and see what Kambosos and crew choose to do next. So long as we get Haney or Loma versus Kambosos next, we can’t gripe too loudly about anything. Yet, this is boxing. So, before we get too lost daydreaming about fights that have not been signed, lets’ see who George Kambosos actually fights next.
