Regis Prograis and Lou DiBella split amicably
Former WBA junior welterweight champion Regis Prograis (24-1, 20KOs) and longtime promoter Lou DiBella have finalized a separation agreement.
While under DiBella, the Louisianian would flourish to championship level slowly. All the while, his steady growth and improvement gained him notoriety. With devastating knockouts and a fan-friendly style, Prograis would become one of the men to beat at 140.
Joining the World Boxing Super Series, Prograis would dominate Terry Flanagan (36-2, 14KOs) and stop Kiryl Relikh (23-3, 19KOs) to win the WBA junior welterweight, his first ever world title. He would lose in the finals to Josh Taylor (16-0, 12KOs) in their highly entertaining unification bout by majority decision.
As for DiBella, he told 3kingsboxing the following regarding the split:
“Our contract was nearing an end and we reached an agreement to move on. It was friendly and Regis and I, personally, are real good. I wish him the best and I still expect him to be a star in our sport.”
It’ll be interesting to see who Prograis aligns himself with next.
3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
