Lamont Roach vs Isaac Cruz Ends In A Draw
In his most recent trip to the squared circle, interim WBC super lightweight champion Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz narrowly retained with a draw against WBA super featherweight champion Lamont “The Reaper” Roach. He was more than a handful and went a long way toward taming the Mexican. No doubt this was an acute kick in the gut to The Reaper. This make it another back-to-back controversial majority draw decisions.
Throughout the match, both men did their fair share to provide a lively and competitive fight. Regrettably, a definitive winner wasn’t crowned. There is a bright side, when asked during his post-fight interview, Pitbull expressed a desire to run it back. Considering The Reaper was extremely adamant that he should have been recognized as the true victor, he’d likely jump at the chance to get revenge for this bitter situation.
So, we will have to wait to see if Roach tests Cruz’s sincerity in providing a rematch and presses the matter. If so, we can expect to see this high-energy duel again as early as the first quarter of 2026. If not, the crestfallen Roach could make his way back to his 130-pound stomping grounds to resume his tenure as champion. In either case, we will have to wait and see what the next chapter brings.
