Robson Conceicao Defeats Jose Guardado With Ease
In a junior lightweight showdown, WBC #2 rated Robson “Nino” Conceicao (18-2-1, 8KO) scored a sensational knockout against Jose Guardado (15-2-1, 5KO).
After going through life or death in a draw against WBO champion Emanuel Navarrete, Nino was in full control of this fight. He fought well behind the job and was aggressive early in attacking Guardado’s body.
This was like watching a sparring session as Conceicao was the superior fighter. He landed hard left hands in succession numerous times and punishing hooks to the body. Guardado couldn’t get his head off the center line and repeatedly ate punches like candy. His left eye was starting to swell up. There was nothing the 2016 Olympic Gold Medalist could do wrong. He picked up the body attack and combination punches that kept Guardado off balance.
In round seven, the Brazilian landed a brutal body shot on the button that put the Mexican on the canvas. Despite his opponent getting up, Conceicao went into attack mode and unloaded a barrage of unanswered shots that put his opponent down on the canvas for good.
This was a necessary win that could possibly lead to a third title shot later in 2024
