Foster Narrowly Wins Back The Title By SD Over Conceicao
In a rematch for the WBC junior lightweight title, O’shaquie “Ice Water” Foster (23-3, 12KO) regained the title against Robson “Nino” Conceicao (19-3-1, 9KO).
Like their first encounter, Nino came forward and was the more active fighter. In this fight, he threw combination punches like M&M candy, landing with ease. He fought like a man out to prove a point.
Ice Water finally caught the timing of the Brazilian and was landing right hands on the body and head. However, Foster reverted to being a defensive-minded fighter, avoiding punches but he didn’t make Conceicao pay for missing.
It was a close fight going into the championship rounds. Conceicao looked tired, but he still managed to land solid countershots in between the challenger’s attacks.
Realizing the champion doesn’t like pressure, Foster came with shots to the body and head. He threw more combination punches and landed a hard right hand that hurt Conceicao in the tenth round.
When the fight was over, one judge scored it 115-113 for Conceicao, with two judges seeing it 115-113 for Foster.
With the title back around his waist, Foster called for unification with the winner of WBO champion Emanuel Navarrete versus Oscar Valdez.
