Rolly Romero Picks Up a Wide Decision Win Over Manuel Jaimes
Following ten rounds of rather subdued action, super lightweight fighter Rolando “Rolly” Romero (16-2, 13 KO’s) picked up a pedestrian unanimous decision win over Manuel Jaimes (16-2-1, 11 KO’s).
Overall it was a good situation for Romero who got back into the win column, having lost to Isaac Cruz in his previous fight. Here tonight, the bout began in reserved fashion and sadly for the fans, the intensity, volume and accuracy never really picked up.
In a case of ‘seen one round and you’ve seen them all’, both Rolly and Jaimes fought on the outside and largely waited for the other to make a move. With this being said, it was Romero who generally led the offensive assaults and more frequently landed the eye-catching shots. Even still, neither fighter was significantly hurt or buzzed throughout the match This is not all that surprising given how somewhat sloppy much of the offense was.
When the duel ultimately went to the cards, Rolly walked away with the unanimous decision with the scores of 99-91 on all three cards.
