Andy Ruiz gets a few extra digits added to his fight purse and agrees to go to Saudi Arabia!

According to The Athletic, unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr has agreed to have the rematch against Anthony Joshua on December 7 in Saudi Arabia.

Apparently, the first ever Mexican heavyweight champion got a bigger “bag” than the original $9 million it was reported he would get. There had been a lot of “back and fourth” action in terms of where the venue would be over the last few months.

From Madison Square Garden in New York, Mexico and Cardiff, Wales to the final choice of Saudi Arabia, Ruiz remained adament through it all that he has the final say so. Although, he had signed a contract before the first fight that he would honor a request for an immediate rematch, it was unknown whether the fine print included WHERE the rematch would take place.

After Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn held a press conference on August 13 in which he announced the location and date of the rematch, Ruiz took to social media and stated the “real news” would be announced shortly. He also stated he intends to bring the fight back to the United States.

A day later, 3kingsboxing.com reported the unified champion had employed the services of “contract” lawyers to help aid him in making his claim a reality. Not much is known about the status of this move, only that it appears Hearn has agreed to offer the champ more money.

After months of an agonizing and quite frankly, irritating and annoying debacle over essentially who the A-side is, it looks like money was the REAL A-side in the end!

3kingsboxing.com will keep you updated on the particulars of the sudden “change of heart” by Team Ruiz!

In the meantime, lets get ready to see the rematch December 7!
