Andy Ruiz Jr is ready to face Anthony Joshua June 1!
Since April 16 when Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller tested positive for a banned substance for his upcoming fight against unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, there has been a scramble to find a replacement.
We at 3KingsBoxing have been on the grind, giving you any and all news on any further developments. Previously, we reported former title contender Andy Ruiz Jr (32-1, 21KO) as the front-runner for the fill-in opponent.
Now it seems a deal may be reached soon as Ruiz has agreed to terms to fight Joshua June 1.
He is currently ranked #11 and #15 by the WBA and IBF respectively.
Originally Team Joshua tried to make a fight against Luis Ortiz, but negotiations fell through. All things considered, Ruiz is a decent replacement who only has one loss which was a controversial decision to former WBO champion Joseph Parker.
Although not the most impressive looking fighter as far as physique, based on skillset, he can fight and will provide a decent test for Joshua.
As always keep in tune with 3KingsBoxing for any further news as well as an official announcement.
UPDATE: 4/30/2019
The official announcement is expected to take place Thursday, May 2.
