Andy Ruiz Threatens to Serve Wilder Some Humble Pie!

Heavyweight contender Andy “The Destroyer” Ruiz (35-2, 22 KO’s) has released a new statement that indicates he may be ready to sign a contract to face Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder (43-2-1, 42 KO’s). The two have been going back-and-forth over the past several months trying to hammer out a contract. When the two camps last spoke, Team Ruiz strongly rejected a proposed 75/25 split offered by Team Wilder. During that episode it was Ruiz’s father, Andres Ruiz, who publicly stated it was an insufficient offer.

As a rebuttal, Wilder, 37, declared that The Destroyer barely held his titles long enough to be called a champion and that fans only wanted to see how quickly he could knockout Ruiz. The Bronze Bomber also claimed that Andres Ruiz was only thinking of his own self-interest and was actually using his son for his own gains. Unsurprisingly, Ruiz hit back at these allegations.

“Deontay motherfucking Wilder, you’re mad, wow! Why you mad for, just because my dad is trying to look out for me? Because he wants the best for me? Trying to get me as much money as I can? Come on, there is no reason to be fucking mad about that. Talking about I am fat, I got short arms, that I am fast, that’s what everybody thinks; That’s what everybody says until they meet me inside the ring. Guess what? This fucking fat chubby kid is about to humble your fucking ass down! Let’s get it baby!”

SO ARE YOU IN OR OUT?!

While the retort sounded good, there was no indication that The Destroyer was actually going to accept the last offer presented. Therefore, Ruiz, ranked #1 (WBO), #2 (WBC) and #7 (IBF), could just be looking to save face by talking a little public smack. If this is the case, that would be unfortunate for Wilder and the boxing fans looking forward to this rumble. On the other hand, if Ruiz, 33, is willing to take the unfavorable split, then the rest of the business should resolve itself rather quickly.

So in the end, we have to wait and see if this was merely a fluff response for the sake of talking or an actual declaration of war. Thankfully, no matter what turns out to be the case, 3Kings Boxing will be here to report the news!
