Gary Russell Jr throws shots at Josh Warrington and Floyd Mayweather JR!
WBC featherweight champion Gary Russell Jr has been on a tear lately!
First he posted a video of himself confronting the father of WBA featherweight champion Leo Santa Cruz.
Now in a exclusive interview with YouTube with Barbershop Conversations, Russell took aim at Josh Warrington, Tank Davis and Floyd Mayweather.
It’s obvious that Russell is tired of being on the outside looking in when it comes to marquee fights being made without his involvement. He’s been chasing a fight with Santa Cruz so far with no success.
However, he’s not the only target of Russell’s. He labeled IBF champion Josh Warrington a “club fighter”.
“Josh Warrington is nothing but club fighter! Nothing but a club fighter! He goes in there and wings punches, that shit bogus. You fight me like that you gone get your ass beat!”
He had some very choice words for Floyd Mayweather as he labeled him a “bitch”.
“I respect pretty boy Floyd as a fighter because he fought you know what I’m saying? He fought anybody they put in front of him.
“He fought some dogs in his day, but this Money Mayweather a bitch! All that fake, wanting pick who you want to fight.
“When you were pretty boy you were fighting anybody. Now that you’re Money Mayweather you want to hide and seclude your fighters and choose who they fight. That’s some sucka shit, I’m not with none of that.”
The statement about Mayweather comes from the notion the future Hall of Fame inductee is protecting former WBA junior welterweight champion Gervonta Davis from bigger challenges, including Russell himself!
That’s obviously a lot to take in but it’s clear the featherweight champion is frustrated with the lack of big fights. Whether the fault is on him or on the guys he’s proclaimed to want to fight.
He’s trying to talk his way into these fights by getting really disrespectful. To be honest, it’s quite entertaining! Only time will tell if this strategy will work or backfire.
