Gary Russell meets with Eddie Hearn!

On May 24, WBC featherweight champion Gary Russell Jr. met with Eddie Hearn to discuss signing with Matchroom/DAZN. His contract with PBC ended this week and he has stated he is a free agent. He has since been heavily pursued, especially considering his exciting recent win over Kiko Martinez.

This could be a huge signing for Hearn. However if this deal is made, fights with Leo Santa Cruz and Gervonta Davis are highly unlikely and those could be two career defining fights for the WBC featherweight champion.

Furthermore, he has expressed numerous times in 2019 his main goal is to unify at featherweight starting with Santa Cruz. At one point, the fight was expected to take place on the under-card of Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury December 1 of 2018, however, things fell apart at the last minute.

There is no word on his decision, but 3kingsboxing.com will provide an update as an announcement is made!
