Ryan Garcia Should Have to Earn his Title Shot Like Everyone Else
Welterweight contender “King” Ryan Garcia is being allowed to skip the line and possibly fight the WBC welterweight champion, Mario “El Azteca” Barrios. In addition, his number-five ranking by the WBA is proof that boxing cares more about popularity than actual accomplishments.
As the boxing community was informed that Garcia and Barrios are close to finalizing a fight for 2026, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that the WBC has reinstated the Californian. King took to social media to share a message with his fans, hinting that he will be victorious.

The reality is Garcia doesn’t deserve a title shot, especially after that poor performance against WBA champion Rolando Romero on May 2. Furthermore, he should be forced to work his way back up the rankings. How many times will he be allowed to step away from the sport to get his mind together, then return as if nothing happened and get thrust right back into the limelight?
It’s understandable that, from a social media perspective, Garcia maintains a huge presence. However, he has failed to do anything significant in the sport of boxing and shouldn’t be rewarded without earning it.

You’ve clearly done your research, and it shows.
This gave me a whole new perspective on something I thought I already understood. Great explanation and flow!
