Billy Joe Saunders responds with visual evidence to Gennady Golovkin stating he wasn’t serious about fighting him!

During an interview ahead of his DAZN debut against undefeated challenger Steve Rolls, former unified middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin was asked about WBO super middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders to which he replied,

“Let’s not talk about Saunders. Why talk about Saunders? Come on guys, he’s not serious. If you want serious, just ask me a serious question.”

This wouldn’t go unanswered. As usual, the quick response from the UK fighter was straight to the point. He posted an image of a message sent from Golovkin’s manager Tom Loeffler from 2017 regarding an agreement to a contract.

“That’s a message from your manager a while back still waiting to see your signature. Too slick for you old man!”

He also tagged both Golovkin and Loeffler to make sure there’s no mistake of his intent. This stems from the supposed showdown that would have resulted in the crowning of an undisputed champion if they would have met in 2017.

The Kazakh fighter, after facing WBA regular champion Daniel Jacobs, was looking to face Saunders, but opted to wait until September for the mega showdown with boxing’s biggest money maker, Canelo Alvarez.

However, a fight with the WBO champion could still take place. Although, Saunders has hinted to having issues with making a big fight with Golovkin or Alvarez. Following his victory over Shefat Isufi, Saunders has expressed wanting a showdown with WBA super middleweight champion Callum Smith.
