After all the bad blood these warriors are ready
The wait is over as fierce rivals Lee Selby and Josh Warrington finally meet in a much-anticipated grudge match for Selby’s IBF World Featherweight Title at Elland Road.
The champion will be making the sixth defense of his belt which he won in 2015 against then undefeated Evgeny Gradovich. Selby comprehensively outboxed the Russian and won a technical decision to step into the division’s elite bracket of fighters.
Warrington will be hoping that home advantage in front of his his loyal fan base in Leeds, coupled with his relentless style, will secure him a first World Title and put an end to Selby’s Championship reign.
In May 2017, Warrington burst onto the world stage when he took on former World Champion Kiko Martinez.
Selby has been in much tougher than Warrington and also considered by some to be a level above in the skills department. Even though he will be in front of a pro-Warrington crowd in Leeds I expect Selby to come out on top.
After months of trash talk, rumors and boasts, the bad blood will be settled in this tasty all-British showdown.
With big fights in the featherweight division on the horizon expect the champion to be at his best and put on a impressive performance. Hopefully after this fight we’ll see Selby in against the likes of the Leo Santa Cruz-Abner Mares or Gary Russell Jr-JoJo Diaz winner. A long anticipated matchup between him and Carl Frampton is also a possibility.
