Selby vs Warrington: It’s On For May

Selby vs Warrington

BREAKING: In what has been alluded to by Frank Warren himself at the back end of 2017. 3KingsBoxing.com has learned that Lee Selby will defend his IBF Featherweight title against mandatory challenger Josh Warrington on May 19th.

Selby is coming off of an unanimous decision over Eduardo Ramirez a little over a month ago on December 9th. The fight was originally sanctioned for the IBF featherweight title but Ramirez missed weight by coming to the scale at over 128lbs.

Warrington became the mandatory challenger for the belt by beating Dennis Ceylan in October of last year. These two have a history of verbal barbs with the welsh champion accusing the Leeds man of ‘bottling’ an opportunity to face him. When Selby was still an Eddie Hearn man the fight was put to Warrington who declined the fight at that time.

Selby told the BBC last year“I will definitely be fighting him. He is just another mark,”Selby said.

But I think he’s got emotionally attached to me. I will give him an educated boxing lesson… and then move on.”
