Amanda Serrano vs Heather Hardy showdown possible!
3kingsboxing.com has learned that current WBO featherweight champion Heather Hardy (22-0, 4KOs) and 7 division champion who is the current WBO super flyweight champion Amanda Serrano (37-1-1, 26KOs) are in talks for a possible fight in September.
Serrano is coming off a first-round TKO victory over previously unbeaten Eva Voraberger in January. She has been heavily pursuing a bout with undisputed champion Katie Taylor since signing a deal with DAZN in early 2019.
Hardy defeated rival Shelly Vincent in a rematch in October of 2018 to win the vacant title.
Interestingly enough, both of these women have also competed professionally as mixed martial artists. Hardy’s MMA record is 2-2, 1 KO while Serrano’s record is 1-1.
Serrano, one of the greats in women’s boxing, will look to hand Hardy (a late starter to the sweet science) her first loss. The styles of these two women should mesh very well.
The champion from Brooklyn is an aggressive fighter with finesse to her game, but can and will be suckered into a firefight. Evidence lies in her fights with Vincent and some of her MMA bouts.
The Puerto Rican champion, on the other hand, is a powerful southpaw with an excellent jab. Her ability to counter with power shots often leaves her opponents stunned and hurt.
Needless to say the future Hall of Fame inductee Serrano will head into this fight as the heavy favorite. If victorious, hopefully we finally see her take on Taylor in a fight that boxing fans are craving for!
3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
