Serrano Nominated For Female Athlete of the Year by Media Giant

Amanda Serrano Up For Big Award

Female boxerAmanda Serrano was nominated by media conglomerate Univision for their 2017 Female Athlete of the Year award. “The Real Deal” is the first female and first Puerto Rican fighter to win world titles in five weight divisions. She has won titles from bantamweight all the way up to lightweight.

The other nominees are Lupita Gonzalez (a racewalker), Paola Longoria (a racquetball player), Garbine Muguruza (a tennis player), and Yulimar Rojas (a track and field athlete).

Serrano is currently trainingto make her debut inMixed Martial Arts after announcing her decision to step away from boxing to pursue another career path. Shewas signed by former UFC female bantamweight champion Miesha Tate earlier this year. The Brooklyn resident saidthe decision to step away from boxing was a hard one but necessary dueto the vast financial differences between the two.
