Why Green Can’t Afford To Lose Focus Against Curry
Next up for mandatory women’s super middleweight challenger Shadasia “The Sweet Terminator” Green (12-0, 11 KOs) steps back into the ring on August 5 against Olivia Curry (7-1, 2 KOs). The fight will occur at American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas. For The Sweet Terminator, It’s a fight that she cannot overlook.
Green’s last outing was a sixth-round stoppage over former unified super middleweight champion Elin Cderroos in February. It was a dominant performance for Green, which resulted in her becoming the mandatory challenger by WBC and the WBA.
Next up is Curry, who is a natural middleweight. In truth, a close inspection of Curry’s record shows that her list of opposition is far from top-tier. On paper, this has the look of a stay-busy fight for Green.
KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE PRIZE
Many observers view this upcoming fight as a virtual cakewalk for the mandatory contender. Nevertheless, The Sweet Terminator must avoid the dreaded letdown. Should Green defeat Curry, a world title shot awaits.
Savannah Marshall is the reigning women’s undisputed champion at 168lbs. She won the crown with a unanimous decision victory over Franchon Crews-Dezurn on July 1.
*As 3kingsboxing.com previously reported, the WBC has informed the promoters of Marshall and Green that they have until September 1 to make a deal or a purse bid will be ordered. It’s all contingent on a Green victory over Curry. Green having a lot at stake would be a giant understatement.
