Claressa Shields Calls Ryan Garcia to the Ring for a Title Shot
Two-divisional undisputed champion Claressa “GWOAT” Shields (14-0, 2KO) has issued a challenge to popular fighter “King Ry” Ryan Garcia (25-1, 20KO). In addition, she threw a harsh insult in his direction.
King Ry is dealing with the fallout of failing a banned substance test after defeating WBC junior welterweight champion Devin Haney. Yet, he continues to get into heated exchanges on social media with fans and fighters. His recent war of words included a back-and-forth with one-time unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr.
While observing Shields and multi-divisional champion Gervonta Davis trading insults over his failed test, Garcia decided to get involved.

Of course, the self-proclaimed GWOAT wasn’t going to sit by and let this go unanswered. Shields took to social media and not only challenged Garcia, but she fired back by stating that Davis was more interested in him.
Although there is no way these two fighters would ever meet in the ring, make no mistake that she is serious about fighting Garcia. Shields has a long history of calling out male fighters to a showdown. The Michigan native went after former champions Rolando Romero, Shawn Porter and Keith Thurman. A few months ago, she made it clear that Thurman wouldn’t be hard to defeat.
Shields needs to be looking to get back into the boxing ring. She has been competing in MMA and overcame serious adversity to defeat Kelsey Desantis on February 24. Being the undisputed middleweight champion, one of the four organizations will soon call upon her to defend the crown against an opponent.
