Shields Said She Will Rematch Marshall in the USA and Means It!
Former WBO middleweight champion Savannah “The Silent Assassin” Marshall (12-1, 10KO) claims to have activated the rematch clause to fight undisputed middleweight champion Claressa “T-Rex” Shields (13-0, 2KO). Although, while Marshall wants another UK showdown, Shields has doubled down on the fight being in the United States.
Marshall, sporting a new blonde hairstyle, spoke on the Sky Sports Soccer AM segment to announce the activation of the rematch clause. Furthermore, she mentioned the rematch is being targeted back in the United Kingdom in Newcastle, at St James Park Stadium.
“I’ve activated the rematch clause . . . I know Sky is really keen, and Boxxer, on getting the fight at St. James Park in the summer.”
SHIELDS STAYS TRUE TO WANTING THE FIGHT IN THE STATES
Of course, T-Rex is always watching things like a hawk, especially when it’s about her. She took to social media calling her arch-rival delusional for believing the rematch will be in the U.K.
Before fans get to screaming and yelling that Shields is trying to avoid the rematch, let’s take a trip down memory lane. On October 15, Shields, in the post-fight interview after defeating Marshall, made it very clear a rematch had to be in the United States.
A few weeks later, when talks of the rematch resurfaced again on social media, the three-time undisputed champion welcomed the fight but remained vigilant on the fight in the states. So it should not come as a surprise to anyone that Shields is adamant on having Marshall travel.
Shields took exception with Marshall saying she could outbox her and promised to put the hurt on the former champion in the rematch.
