Skye Nicolson Gives Raven Chapman A Boxing Lesson
WBC featherweight champion Skye Nicolson (12-0, 1KO) boxed the socks off of challenger Raven “The Omen” Chapman (9-1, 2KO) for the unanimous decision.
The jerky movement of The Omen gave the Aussie trouble as she landed some solid right hands. But on cue, Nicolson put those boxing skills to work and landed several countershots.
In the middle rounds, Nicolson’s counter-punching and straight left hand were fully displayed. Her footwork was even better as she managed to pivot off the ropes.
Chapman’s movement slowed, and she didn’t seem as eager to attack. She threw fewer and fewer punches while getting hit repeatedly by the straight left hand.
Nicolson put on a boxing lesson in the championship rounds. She constantly landed countershots like a video game character in cheat mode.
When it was over, two judges scored it 98-92, and one saw it 99-91 in favor of Nicolson. With this fight over, Team Nicolson will focus on trying to get a fight with unified champion Amanda Serrano, who is rematching two-division undisputed champion Katie Taylor.
