Errol Spence: “Angel Garcia gets me hype”
Unified welterweight champion Errol “The Truth” Spence (26-0, 21ko) is taking a huge risk stepping back into the ring after a life-threatening car accident against two-divisional champion Danny “Swift” Garcia (36-2, 21ko).
The main question that everyone will have is the mental state of the Texas unified champion. Will we see a return to form or has the accident taken some bite out the top dog of the division? Furthermore, team Garcia will be looking to test the unified champion according to father and trainer Angel Garcia.
The always vocal father proclaimed that victory will happen and explained how they plan on doing it in a recent conference call.
“We are going to dictate the fight. First of all, we are going to be on top of him. Anything he got, we going to respond to anything he brings to the table.”
Now, of course, Spence was going to respond as soon as the mic was turned on for him to talk. He made it clear as to why he picked such a dangerous fight.
“I picked Danny Garcia so I can rise up to the occasion, I feel he is a great fighter and the odds are still in my favor after the car crash and I am still the top dog in my division. I will show that I am a great fighter and he is a great opponent.”
Moreover, about Angel Garcia’s comments on dictating the fight, the unified champion had something to say about that also.
“His dad gets me hype saying how they going to dictate the pace and how they going to come forward and throw punches and take the belts from me in my hometown.”
Then he ended it all with a small reminder of what has happened to opponents when they come to fight in his backyard.
“Every time I fight in my home town, I either got a knockout or shut out win. So I am a hundred percent ready for anything they bring to the table.”
