Stephen Fulton Says He Prefers To Face Murodjon Akhmadaliev For Undisputed!
On June 4 unified super bantamweight champion Stephen “Cool Boy” Fulton (20-0, 6KOs) will make his 2022 debut against former unified champion Daniel Roman (29-3-1, 10KOs). However, if you ask him who he would have preferred facing next, it wouldn’t be Roman.
After adding the WBC title to go along with his WBO after a close majority decision win over Brandon Figueroa, the Philadelphia native wants to make it clear what and who it is he prefers fighting on June 4. He told 3kingsBoxing.com that if it were up to him he would be fighting for undisputed against Murodjon Akhmadaliev (10-0, 7KOs).
“Yeah, that was the goal. I mean if it was up to me we would be fighting June 4 for that. Yeah it’s no point in waiting around, what we waiting for? It’s only two people that got belts, let’s just see who the leader of the division is. Get it over with!”
Fulton has made it no secret he feels he’s the best fighter at 122 pounds. His resume is backed by the quality of competition and the fact that’s he’s beaten every guy that’s stepped in the ring with him. On the flip side you’ll have some people say “pump the brakes”, and proclaim that Akhmadaliev stands at the top of the division. He holds the WBA and IBF titles, has been unified longer and acquired the titles from Roman when the latter was the king of the division.
Obviously that’s the fight to make. Both guys are unbeaten and have taken their belts off of former world champions. They have fan friendly fighting styles and sit one fight away from determining who’s the real champ at super bantamweight. Let’s hope that if both men are victorious, we will see this matchup at some point in 2022!
