Junior welterweight Stephen “The Hitman” McKenna (15-0, 14KO), in an all-out war, stopped Joe “Benwell Bomber” Laws (14-3, 2KO) in three rounds.

It was action from the start of the bell, with both men meeting in the center of the ring throwing bombs. The Hitman landed a punishing overhand right hook that floored Laws. Moving in for the kill, throwing hard shots, McKenna got floored by a counter shot that brought the crowd to their feet in amazement.

As the fight continued, the two men continued to engage in physical combat. In round three, McKenna fought like a man-possessed landing before more hard shots that dropped Laws several times.

Then after taking more punishment, Laws Corner stepped in to stop the contest giving McKenna the most satisfying win of his career. Walking away with the WBC International Silver title, The Hitman will enjoy a bump in the ranking.

With so much movement in the junior middleweight division, it will be interesting to see what team McKenna has planned next.
