Curtis Stevens reacts to the power of Gennady Golovkin!
NOVEMBER 11, 2013 – Shortly after stopping Romaro Johnson in the first round in front of a hometown crowd in Brooklyn, NY, middleweight contender Curtis Stevens (30-7, 22KO) called for a fight with then WBA champion, Gennady Golovkin (40-1-1, 35KO). The fighter from New York was brimming with confidence that he could take out the then undefeated champion who had only gone the distance three times out of 27 fights and even insinuated that Golovkin wouldn’t take the challenge!
Four fights and a year and eight months later, Stevens found himself challenging Golovkin’s WBA middleweight title. The power and size of the Khazkh champion would prove to be too much as he virtually won every round en route to breaking the smaller challenger down and out by the eighth round.
The power was so intense that Stevens made THIS face after attempting to recover from a knockdown. This became one of the most memorable memes of 2013!
