Shakur Stevenson Eyeing Future Showdown with Gervonta Davis!
Unbeaten two-division WBO champion Shakur “Fearless” Stevenson (17-0, 9KOs) is a fighter with superstar potential. The Newark, New Jersey native is currently preparing for the biggest fight of his career. On April 30, he’ll put his 130-pound WBO title on the line against WBC champion Oscar Valdez (30-0, 23KOs) in a pivotal unification showdown. However, that hasn’t stopped him from looking ahead to the future just a little bit.
Speaking with Fight Hub TV, he told them that he envisions a fight between him and multi-weight world champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis being boxing’s biggest fight one day.
“I honestly believe that me and Tank will be the biggest fight in boxing one day. I think if he continues on the path he’s on and I continue on my path, as far as skills go, all those guys that are still there I feel like we’d be the most exciting, most action-packed type of fight, and I feel like I’m going to win that fight, too. “
It’s clear that Stevenson wants to lock horns with the best fighters in or around his division to secure a legendary legacy. A fight with Davis is a fight-fan’s dream. Both men are young, unbeaten, skilled and have won world titles in multiple weight classes.
On paper, this fight has the potential to be one to remember. Davis brings strength, speed, power punching and excellent athleticism. On the contrary, Stevenson brings elite-level reflexes, fundamentals, defensive wizardry, and an always evolving offensive game.
It’s safe to say fans would welcome such a matchup with open arms. However, both men still have unfinished business in their respective divisions before a fight between the two can happen.
