Shakur Stevenson continues his quest to a world title July 13!
Newark’s favorite son, Shakur Stevenson is returning home on July 13. He will battle a fellow unbeaten fighter in Cuban prospect Hairon Socarras (22-0-3, 14KO).
Stevenson is coming off a spectacular performance against former world super featherweight title challenger Christopher Diaz. It was in that fight, that many pundits felt the fast rising southpaw would struggle.
However, he would dominate en route to a lopsided decision by displaying boxing brilliance!
Socarras, is a relatively unknown fighter that has campaigned mostly in the junior featherweight division. This is a huge career defining opportunity for the #7 ranking WBA contender.
Stevenson currently holds minor titles in three of the four major sanctioning bodies (WBC, IBF and WBO).
Socarras moved to the United States at the age of eleven and turned pro in 2011. He also once held the WBC Latino title.
The under-card will feature bantamweight sensation Joshua “Don’t Blink” Greer who will be returning since getting up off the canvas to stop Giovanni Escaner in February.
This live ESPN event is scheduled to take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on July 13.
