Shakur Stevenson Holding Out for a Better Offer from Devin Haney

Recently, two-division champion “Fearless” Shakur Stevenson (20-0, 10 KO’s) recently came under fire. This is because it was revealed that he’d turned down an offer to face undisputed lightweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (30-0, 15 KO’s). Many fans accused Stevenson of being full of hot air because Haney was a fight that he said he wanted badly.

In response to the backlash, Fearless has taken to his social media to explain his side of the story. In his opinion, the 75/25 split that he was offered was not to his liking. So while he insisted that the fight is not dead in the water, the money portion will definitely have to be adjusted for the duel to move forward.

UP AGAINST THE CLOCK

If Stevenson wants to dance with The Dream, at least at lightweight, he is in a race against time. Team Haney has long since said that they are itching to move up to 140 because he has outgrown the division. Before any talks between Haney and Stevenson were unearthed, it was well documented that Team Haney was looking into penning a match with WBC super lightweight champion Regis Prograis.

Haney and Stevenson have floated around each other since their amateur days. Yet, because they never resided in the same weight class, they never collided in the ring. Nevertheless, fans have seen the merit in this battle and have longed to see it live. So, it will be interesting to see if their social media squabbling can turn into a real fight contract.
