Super Fly Star Undergoing “Mental Issues”

Rungvisai to push back next fight

Reports out of Thailand say that WBC super flyweight champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai is dealing with some “mental issues”. According to his promoter, Surachart Pisitwuttinan, the Thai superstar is “in mentally bad shape” after the breakdown of his 14-year relationship with his girlfriend Patchareewan Kanha.

Sor Rungvisai’s next title defense was reported to be around August in a potential rematch with Juan Francisco Estrada. Rungvisai edged the Mexican back in February as the main event of the Super Fly 2 card on HBO.

“He needs time to heal and is not ready for training,” said Surachart to The Nation.

“He will be asking for the next bout which is due in the US in August to be postponed. When he is ready, he will have a press conference and resume his training.”

The Nation reported that Sor Rungvisai was due to get married this month, and it appears the relationship could have been broken up by a third party. The claim is that Patchareewan posted a picture of herself with an unidentified man on social media, but she later removed the post.

The situation has shocked most of the Thai superstar’s fans in his homeland as the two are well known for how they’ve remained together through the harshest of times.

It is unclear at this time what may happen next or when Rungvisai may be ready to return to training again. This is really just another reminder that our favorite fighter’s are human just like us. I personally wish him and his family the best.
