Greer Jr stops Dezurn on ShoBox

From the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA Joshua Greer Jr. (17-1-1,9KO’s) stopped a very game Glenn Dezurn (9-2-1,6KO’s) in a Super Bantamweight contest. Dezurn started off well trying to push Greer Jr back and pin him against the ropes. To his credit, Greer was able to use his speed and slickness hurting Dezurn throughout the bout.

Greer did some great body work throughout the night, mixing in his punches and was able to hurt Dezurn in the third with a big right. He simply beat Dezurn to the punch all night. Dezurn was game taking big shots and kept coming forward but it was clear that Greer was the more polished fighter.

After hurting Dezurn in several rounds Greer finally dropped his opponent in the eighth round, he was able to beat the count. Shortly after however the referee called a halt to the bout, Joshua Greer Jr scored a eighth round TKO victory.

Earlier in the night Charles Foster improved to 16-0 with 8KO’s winning a unanimous decision over Alvin Varmall Jr (15-1-1-1NC,12KO’s). Foster came out using all 5 inches of his reach advantage, staying behind his jab and holding Varmall Jr every time they got on the inside.

Varmall Jr was able to hit Foster with some big shots but due to the lack of technique, he just didn’t have any leverage on his opponent. Foster was able to turn his opponent all night long using his movement and keeping the fight on the outside. Foster was in complete control getting the unanimous decision (77-75,78-74,79-73). Varmall Jr has a lot to work on suffering the first defeat of his career.

Also, Arnold Khegai (11-0–1,8KO’s) won a unanimous decision (77-74 2X, 78-73) over Adam Lopez (16-3-2,8KO’s). Khegai was in complete control throughout, hurting Lopez a couple of times in the bout. Lopez to his credit kept coming forward but only threw one punch at the time. Khegai showed poise throughout the night while Lopez must go back to the drawing board.
