Tank Davis Predicts Shakur Stevenson PPV to Underwhelm Fans
When WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson (22-0, 10 KO’s) next laces up the gloves for combat, he will do so for a pay-per-view event. On October 12, when he faces Joe Cordina, it will serve as a portion of the undercard for the Artur Betebiev vs Dmitry Bivol unification bout. Yet, in his estimation, WBA 135-pound champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (30-0, 28 KO’s) believes that its laughable to even mention Stevenson and PPV in the same breath.
After recently seeing Shakur Stevenson being highlighted on the upcoming card, Tank was quick to add his two cents.
BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME!
It really is unfortunate that it seems the only way these two will trade blows is via social media. Stevenson and Tank were recently threatening to fight the other. In the end however, given Stevenson’s upcoming assignment and Tank’s lack of any announcement, they could not hammer a deal home. This is a shame. Outside of being a unification, the two subject fighters represent the upper echelon of talent in the division.
Beyond this, their prizefight could answer a lot of questions for each pugilist. How will Tank look against an in-prime, top tier, and slick boxer? Will Stevenson hold his own and compete with moxie when in with Davis? Following the action, would the victor emerge as being the king of mountain, according to fan perspective?
For the fans’ sake, let’s hope that Stevenson picks stronger competition than his next heavy-underdog opponent, Joe Cordina. Likewise, since the immensely popular Tank Davis couldn’t come to an agreement with Stevenson, it’d be great if he slid in the ring with another prime predator.
