Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano Super-Fight Set for May!

Matchroom Boxing has announced that women’s undisputed world lightweight champion Katie Taylor will put her titles on the lines against seven-weight world champion Amanda Serrano on May 2 at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England and will be aired live on DAZN.

A fight that has been talked about for quite a while, both ladies are ecstatic the fight has finally been made.

The 33-year-old Taylor relishes the opportunity to step in the ring against Serrano. She is relieved the fight is finally taking place.

“It’s a fight that seems to have been talked about for years, so I’m just glad it’s finally on.

It’s a massive fight and one that I have been looking forward to for a long, long time. I’ve been working hard in training camp in the US since the start of the year, so it’s great to have a date to focus on now and I can’t wait for May 2nd.” ~Katie Taylor, undisputed world lightweight champion

Serrano has openly called for a fight against Taylor for the last two years. Without question one of the best women’s fighters in the world today, the 31-year-old gets her wish to battle the lady she’s wanted to challenge the most.

“I’m happy we finally got this big fight made because both myself & Katie deserve to be in this position. While our fight could have been a main event, I’m still grateful it’s happening.

I’m not going to talk down to Katie, as I know she won’t to me. So I’ll leave it at this: one thing that’s for sure is that we’ll both leave it all in the ring. Thanks to my Promoter Lou DiBella, Eddie Hearn, Matchroom Boxing, DAZN & Katie Taylor for this great opportunity. See you in Manchester!” ~Amanda Serrano, seven-weight world champion

Taylor – Serrano is a true super-fight; a contest involving two of the top 5 women’s boxers in the sport that are currently in their physical primes.

Eddie Hearn (promoter of Taylor) and Lou DiBella (promoter of Serrano) are both equally excited over this fight. Can you blame them? If you’re a serious follower of women’s boxing or consider yourself any kind of serious boxing fan, you have to be pumped up about this showdown.

On paper, a serious argument can be made that this is the most significant women’s boxing boutever. Stay tuned to 3KingsBoxing for all the pre-fight coverage on this blockbuster fight.
